Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 91-93
The 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru les Fontenys has a very tight nose, showing some toasty new oak at the moment, but there is clearly sufficient fruit behind it (the vines adjacent to Bruno Clair’s). The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannin, very fine acidity, quite backward compared to Roty’s other 2014s but with plenty of substance on the spicy, licorice-tinged finish.
Anticipated maturity: 2019-2038

Quite polished and silky fruit and then a great whack of chewy tannins. Very solid indeed – verging on bitterness.
Anticipated maturity: 2025-2040
Vinous 91+
Dark red-ruby Ripe cherry, licorice and spices on the nose, lifted by a floral topnote Rich, slightly smoky aromas of raspberry and stony minerality More saline and less obviously sweet than the Clos Prieur en Bas but with more density of material
Anticipated maturity: 2023-2032
