Tasting Notes
Vinous 92-94
A deep, dense, beautifully layered wine, the 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin Bel Air flows across the palate with layers of blue and black fruit, violets, lavender and sweet spices. The Bel Air is at first quite round and supple, but there is plenty of underlying structure to give the flavors their resonance and vibrancy. The 2012 boasts gorgeous depth and exceptional overall balance.
Anticipated maturity: 2018-2032
Robert Parker 91
Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Bel Air has a more savoury, meatier nose than its peers, perhaps with more character and terroir expression. It is very well defined, very focused. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, impressive weight and volume, yet maintaining fine balance with a detailed, mineral-driven finish. It is primed to give more in the future.
Anticipated maturity: 2017-2030
