Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 85?
Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chenes from Thierry Glantenay has a broody, introspective bouquet with dark cherry and bergamot scents, a touch of cold stone but missing the charm of Francois Buffet’s Taillepieds. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin and firm grip. There is a lot of oak that needs to be assimilated here, muscular and sinewy, but it needs more finesse and tension on the finish. I am uncertain if this is a truly representative showing, so I will refrain from scoring this bottle.
Anticipated maturity: 2015-2015
