Tasting Notes
Vinous 92.5/100
The 2010 Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts 1er Cru is one of the few vintages that I have never tasted (or at least, I have no record of it). It is typical Cathiard on the nose with a dense wave of blueberry, blackberry and cassis fruit, quite bold and powerful. The palate is muscular with a fine structure, not quite impenetrable, yet there is something about this Malconsorts where it does not want to let you in. Grippy on the finish, the tannins have mellowed over the years, but there is some way to go. Give this another three to four years. Tasted at dinner in Crystal Palace.

He is lucky enough to have more than 0.5 ha but had to buy out his three sisters: ‘Inheritance isn’t easy – especially in France.’ Savoury and rich at the same time. Very majestic and easy to like, not reserved admittedly – quite a sweet style – the antithesis of de Vogue for example. Lovely stuff – very easy to like. Perhaps not for purists.
