Tasting Notes
Vinous 89
The 2010 Chambolle-Musigny Village has fine delineation on the nose with subtle cranberry and crushed strawberry scents, a touch of tomato leaf in the background. The palate is underpinned by fine tannin, quite precise and poised yet surprisingly backward with almost a recalcitrant grip on the finish. Therefore give this another couple of years in bottle. Tasted at Goedhuis’s Burgundy tasting at Vintners Hall.

The 2010 Chambolle-Musigny boasts an exotic bouquet redolent of super ripe dark cherries, flowers, mint and spices. This is a fairly exuberant wine, but there is more than enough minerality to provide balance. The balance and overall sense of harmony are first-rate. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020. This is a knock-out set of wines from Ghislaine Barthod. Yields were, of course, down significantly for the same reasons that affected every grower. The wines possess wonderful clarity and verve throughout the range. I will report on the 2009s from bottle in the April issue. For now, let me say both the 2009s and 2010s are fabulous. Readers who can find them should absolutely not hesitate. Importer: Rosenthal Wine Merchant, Pine Plains, NY; tel. (800) 910-1990
