Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 91
The over-14% alcohol Vatan 2008 Sancerre Clos la Neore would frankly seem closer to being over-the-top were it not tasted right behind its successor! Lime and grapefruit rind, caraway, musk melon, and honeydew dominate on the nose and a palate of breadth and glycerin-richness. Yet, there is some sense of fresh citrus here as well as chalky, alkaline finishing mineral traces. Notes of white pepper, gooseberry, and citrus rind lend a pungent, bittersweet edge and slight sizzle to the faintly warm but impressively persistent finish. I would recommend enjoying this over the next 2-3 years.
