Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 87+
Musky, gamy, alkaline, and faintly acrid notes on the nose of Fourrier’s 2007 Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Echezeaux foreshadow a slightly rustically tannic palate, although there is undeniable sweetness of fruit extending into a satisfyingly long finish. I can’t decide, though, whether this fruit is already being pushed aside or merely in the process of re-asserting itself (and I did not taste this wine early on from barrel). Judgment on age-ability definitely deferred.
Vinous 90
Good full red. Musky red fruits and spices on the nose. Fat with fruit but also subtly complex, with a distinctly savory quality to the red berry and mineral flavors. This rather opulent, sweet wine finishes with broad, horizontal tannins and sneaky length. The 2007s will give pleasure at any time over the next 12 years, notes Fourrier, pointing out that "the structure of 2007 is nicely integrated into the wines without being at all massive."
