Tasting Notes

Mid ruby. Fragrant and is it just autosuggestion that it really does seem to smell of a chestnut tree? Soft smudgy fruit with marked acidity on the palate. This is a no-compromises expression of the vintage with all its idiosyncrasies. Very round finish though suggests all will come right in the end. Very healthy fruit. A very slow burner.

Again, there appears to be high extraction on the nose but at the same time there is an underlying greenness, a melange of macerated black cherries, grass cuttings and green leaves. Moderate definition. The palate has good concentration but lacks some clarity ” raspberry leaf, cherries and a touch of Doris plum. Rather ostentatious on the finish, when it has no right to be. Drink now-2013. Tasted February 2007.
