Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 95
Muscular yet seamless, elegant yet dense and plush, the cassis and black cherry-scented 2002 Echezeaux is a fabulous effort. Its satin-textured, medium to full-bodied personality bursts with black cherries, spices, and blackberries. This seductive wine is already a hedonist’s dream yet there’s no reason to believe it won’t stand the test of time. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2018. Bravo! Deep, saturated ruby-red. Rather extractive aromas of dark berries, chocolate and tarry oak. A distinctly musclebound wine, with strong flavors of dark fruits. But I find this a bit gritty, even brutal, and the tannins are a bit coarse.
